One of the best things you can do to help you decide what paint to choose is...

1.) Pick up samples (pints/quarts-every paint manufacturer is different) of each color of paint you like.

2.) Paint drywall primer onto a 12" square area of wall in the room you want to paint.

General:
...What should I always do when I buy a can of paint?
Whenever you buy a can of paint, you should immediately record where you bought it, what you plan on using it for, the exact color, the sheen, the brand and the date you bought it.

...Why should I always paint drywall primer on brand new drywall?
The reason why you should always paint brand new drywall first using a drywall primer is to seal the drywall. Drywall is very pourous. If you do not first seal the drywall, you will end up using way more paint.
